1)
What is a CD badge ?
Answer
A CD badge is effectively a cut-down version of
a normal compact disc (CD). The maximum capacity
is 50 Meg but any type of information can be
stored on them in a similar way to a normal CD.
2)
How do I use a CD badge ?
Answer
The CD badge sits on a CD tray similar to a full
size CD. On the CD tray, you will find an 8cm
ring that the badge should sit on and locate
into. Once the CD badge is in position (not
moving around in the tray) then it is ready to
use.
3)
Can the CD badge be used in any CD player on a
PC?
Answer
As long as the computer has a CD tray, you
should be able to use the badge. The badges
cannot be used in ‘slot’ CD players, such as
those found in car radios.
4)
Can they be used on Mac’s, or just PC’s ?
Answer
The badge could be used with Mac’s in theory as
it is just a cut down CD, but the software that
we use to put the badge together is suitable for
use on PC’s, not Mac’s.
5)
What type of information can be put onto the
badge ?
Answer
In short – anything. We recommend that you use
whatever is the best medium for you – PowerPoint
presentations, PDF file, Microsoft Word / Excel
files etc. One thing to remember is that the end
user will need the appropriate software to view
whatever files you use (i.e. Microsoft Word for
.doc files).
6)
Is there a limit to how many files can go on the
badge ?
Answer
The only limit is the total file size. The badge
can contain 50 Meg of information. We will work
with you to compress some of the files that you
want to include without losing any quality. We
will do our best ! ! !
7)
Is there a maximum or minimum number of badges
that I must order ?
Answer
The more badges you order, the cheaper the price
will be when calculated per badge. But we will
quote for as few or as many as you want.
8)
Can we change the number of badges that we have
ordered as we approach the event ?
Answer
Yes you can – just let us know. We will adjust
the quotation to reflect this.
9)
Why aren’t your prices on your website ?
Answer
We constantly monitor the prices from our
suppliers to make sure we get the best deal for
ourselves, which we can then pass on to you.
Hence prices change and we ask you to email us
so we can be flexible and give you the best
price possible.
10)
If supplier prices change, will you stick to the
price you quote ?
Answer
Yes, of course. The only way that a quote will
change is if your requirements change.
11)
If I ask for a quote, will I then be continually
contacted and pushed for an order ?
Answer
No, definitely not. When you request a quote and
supply the information, we will send you an
email that details the overall cost and what you
are getting for your money. Nothing more – no
additional emails. We will wait for you to
contact us again if you wish to proceed with an
order.
12)
If I place an order, what happens then ?
Answer
The first thing we need is an idea of the colour
scheme you would like for the badge. This can be
anywhere from you defining the colour scheme and
the detailed animation you want, to you just
sending us your logo(s) and / or an example of
your corporate colour scheme and we will design
a layout of the badge for you to look at. We
would suggest the second option, as with the
first option you will need to put a lot more
work into it ! Once we have an outline of the
badge, we will host an executable file that you
can download (we will email you the link). This
executable file will effectively be the
structure of the badge, so none of the links
will work but you will be
able to see the proposed animations and colour
scheme. We can modify this as you wish until
both parties are happy with the structure. Then
you can forward us all the relevant documents as
soon as you have them and we will work towards
finishing a completed badge.
13)
What sort of things would go on a CD badge for a
conference ?
Answer
The badge will have a menu structure, and common
elements of the menu are usually: An
introduction and / or agenda – speaker
biographies – speaker presentations – additional
resources – web links – contact details. This is
not a restrictive list – your CD badge is custom
designed for your event, so you can have a menu
structure
containing whatever you want.
14)
What badge holders do you supply ?
Answer
The badge holders use clips as opposed to pins.
Pins tend to damage suits, shirts and blouses
and delegates will tend not to wear them.
15)
Do you design the labels on the badge ?
Answer
Yes – the label will reflect the colour scheme
and layout of the main menu.
16)
Can you put individual names on to badges ?
Answer
Yes, if you supply the delegate names in an
Excel file then the badges will be individually
named. We can discuss this after you place your
order (we will supply you an Excel template if
it helps you).
17)
How big are the CD badges ?
Answer
They measure 61mmx86mm, and fit comfortably into
the badge holders that we can supply if you need
them.
18)
Are we limited in any way with the animations
and design of the badge ?
Answer
No, the animations are totally customised to
your requirements. This is important to consider
– some companies that offer CD badges use
restrictive software to put the menu together.
This is much faster for them in terms of
development time, but offers a very limited
final solution. Be sure to review samples from
whatever company you
decide to use BEFORE you place your order.
